This post is about option C. of number one, hardships. It seems like the earlier settlers here were having a hard time coping with the land and the indians at first. They were getting too much salt from the water, which acutally made them drink more salt. This little obstacle alone took out more than half of the first settlers. The Native Americans also were not on their side, they saw foreign people and did not take a liking to it. Also, some of the people in the village were spies, and the known fact that there were spies made the people more suspicious. Having a village on there toes is tough enough, but since the few that remained needed each other to stay alive it was tough to cope with others, being suspicious of them.

  3. How hard must it had been for these first settlers? Suffering from salt water poisoning while fear and paranoia of spies and Spanish attacks plagued your mind not even mentioning the ongoing attacks from the Native Americans. I don't think I could of handled it.
