As the hot walls were pushing me in i heard some pebbles that i had kicked in the pit fall to my dreary new home. It took them a lot longer than i had hoped for them to reach the bottom, i had no chance of surviving this. I frantically searched for other ideas. I went back to the walls to see if there was an opening in them, nope, and even if there were, the walls were too hot to go near. The walls were pushing, pushing in, nearer and nearer they drew. My life was slowly ticking nearer to the end, the ticks were few and far between. My time was coming to a close. I found myself unwillingly walking closer to the edge of the pit. I had to, it was death by fire or death by falling. I would take the quicker and less painful of the two. Who knows, maybe ill die of fear or shock before either happens. My foot was maybe a foot and a half from the edge, the walls were moving at about ten inches per minute. Death was close. My train of thought had run dry of new ideas for escaping. I said my goodbyes, through prayer of course, all i was thinking about was the people watching and laughing now. I fell.
The falling was peaceful, but my mind was working at 1000 miles a minute. I took out an oblong stone that i had found on the cave of the den before i had fallen. Holding it in both hands i struck the side of the dirt pit with all my might. The stone sunk into the dirt, which then made it close to impossible for me to hold onto, yet somehow, i did. This brought me to a halt i figured three fourths the way down the pit. I was not excited that i had done that, for the sole purpose of the thought that i will now starve to death instead of dying instantly. Kicking my feet, i was trying to find a foothold, my feet weren't touching the walls, yet my knees were. There must have been an indent in the wall there. I figured i could survive the fall from here, so i dropped. I landed within the next few feet. Was this the bottom? In the dark i felt around crawling on my knees. No, there was another ledge! I felt something that i'm guessing was a ladder leading down to the bottom of the pit. I wasn't at the bottom! The builders must have made a tunnel to get to the pit to remove the rotting carcasses. I found an escape route! Still not completely sure of my findings i walked cautiously down the tunnel to eventually find a wooden door that was not locked. They must have never suspected anyone would survive the fall. I opened the door to find dirt staircase, leading up to the field that the beside the building i must have been in. I was free.
